Photo Stuff Of Late

I totally missed my deadline of last Sunday to post... I can be very lenient as my own boss.

This big news is that I got my first Boston Phoenix assignment yesterday! I got the call with less than two days to turn the project around, so I made arrangements and did the shoot last night, thinking I could go back today sometime if necessary (it was an editorial portrait of a jazz musician in Dorchester). But I turned in what I shot, and they seemed to like it, I-think-maybe! It will take some distance to gauge how I actually feel I did. It reminds me of when I used to sing.... whenever I would get off stage I'd have this weird, removed feeling of having no idea how I'd done, and not even remembering the experience very well.

The shot comes out next week in the Arts section (probably teeny-tiny, but I don't care!). Expect a post. No, really.

The lovely Chagmion Antoine was in town a couple of weeks ago and brightened my whole week with her presence.

(Look at my expression... that's love!)

She also snuck me in to the dress rehearsal of Cyndi Lauper's True Colors tour, which she was covering for LOGO. Imagine: me, maybe 12 other people milling around the Bank of America Pavilion, Cyndi hanging out, Rosie O'D. onstage running through her routine and bitching about the teleprompters not moving fast enough, the B-52's doing their whole set, Carson Kressley from "Queer Eye" as the emcee being funny and inappropriate with the audience, then Cyndi running through her set. She stopped halfway through the first song to change her shoes, which were 5-inch platforms. "I tried the shoes... I hate the shoes," she apologized.

I also managed to get in a yoga shoot with Marie before she and Jamie moved away to Poughkeepsie (sigh...). This is my favorite, even though it's not as yoga-y as some of the others.

This is several weeks old now, but these are part of a shoot I did with a lovely family in the Back Bay.

I'll leave the photos of my shoot with Sonia Chang-Diaz, who's running for State Senate in the Second Suffolk District of Boston and whose campaign photos I did two years ago as my one of my first assignments, for next time. Whew!
